Singapore is a country full of surprises.
Is 5 days enough? Who is this for?
For us, five days are enough to visit most of the tourist attractions. This is intended for family who wants to spend time exploring the city and see some major attractions. If you are looking for a relaxing and resort style, beach trip, please stay 5 says at Sentosa Island!
DAY 1
Morning: Flight from HKG to Singapore (Cathay Pacific)
Afternoon: Merlion
Evening: Theatre district, Bugis Street/Bugis Junction
For most tourist, you should fly into Changji airport. We landed at around 1:15 PM. It took us about 45 mins to pass through security, immigration, and get our bags. Passing through security and immigration is extremely easy in Singapore.
Once we settled into our hotel. we took the bus to Merlion park, walked through downtown theatre district, Clarke Quay, and Bugis Street/Junction.
Pro tip:
Submit your immigration form prior to arrival online, your information will then be stored in the Singapore’s immigration system. Security/immigration is automatic, simply scan your passport, take a photo, and you will be allowed to enter.
We purchased the Singapore Tourist Pass (A pass that give you unlimited free bus and subway rides for the duration of the pass) through the automatic machine (located inside the airport subway terminal), took the subway downtown, and checked in to our hotel.
Here is the link to Singapore Tourist Pass
Bugis Street/Bugis Junction is a shopping district. This district includes both street vendors and name-brand stores.
DAY 2
Morning: Sentosa Island
Afternoon: Marina Bay, Cloud Forest, Flower Dome
Evening: Super Tree Grove
How to get to Sentosa Island?
9:30 AM- Use data and get on a map, we took the bus to Vivo City Mall, and then transferred to the Sentosa Line (subway). The subway station is located at the third floor of the Vivo City Mall. You can also take the bus, walk across the bridge, or take the Cable Car.
Tip: You do not have pre-purchase your subway tickets. You can simply tape your credit card on the subway gate to pay. The line at the subway station is for ATTRACTION TICKETS! Do not have to wait in line to get in the subway.
Lunch: Malaysia Food Street right outside of Universal
Evening: Supertree Grove and light show (expect large crowd!) These two sites are within walking distance of each other
CloudForest- Worth it. See for yourself, if you are enthusiast of cloud and nature, I am pretty sure you will enjoy it!
Flower Dome - it is a pretty garden. They had the Lunar New Year Dragon celebration in display during our visit. The flower arrangement was very impressive.
*You may want to substitute this day to spend a full day at Universal Singapore
DAY 3
Morning: Singapore Zoo
Afternoon: River Wonder
Evening: SIngapore Night Safari
River Wonder stood out to me as I have never visited an entire aquarium featuring fresh water animals. Don’t bee fooled, this aquarium is not boring at all. It is well organized you get to learn plenty about fresh water and how it impacts it.
Night Safari - Impressive! In this attraction, you will sit in a car
Day 4:
Morning: Church/Singapore Botanical Garden
Afternoon: SEA Aquarium Singapore
Evening: Skyline Luge and Vivo city mall for dinner
S.E.A. Aquiarum- During Lunar New Year, they put on an underwater dragon dancing at the main tank.
Day 5:
Morning: Hotel pool/Gym
Afternoon: Singapore Airport/ Jewel
Evening: Bye Bye Singapore, SIN to IAH via EVA airway
Review:
You can easily spend the entire day in Jewel SIngapore.
Jewel Singapore is a stand-alone building within the Singapore airport complex.
If you are departing from SIN airport, you do not have to pass through security to visit Jewel.
However, if you are transferring through SIN, you will have to exit the airport and pass through securiy.
There are stores for you to store lugguge and a Changi airport Louge for you to relax. It is like a regular mall but inside an airport.
It takes about 10 minutes to walk from security check point (Terminal 3) to Jewel through bridges. Our flight was scheduled to depart at 3:45 pm, we left Jewel at 2:40 PM, it took us 30 mins total from walk from Jewel Lounge to our gate (including passing through security and immigration).
Hotel Review- Carlton City Singapore
We paid $174 per night for a King bed room. The price does come with free breakfast.
This hotel is located in downtown SIngapore, 2-minute walk from few major subway lines, which give you easy access to pretty much access to most attractions.
Breakfast- plenty of options! From pancake, Chinese dumplings sim, egg, noodles, fruit, patry and soup, you name it they have it. We were impressed with the quality.
Currency/Payment method:
Visa/master card are widely accepted in Singapore, even by small vendorI recommend getting a credit card with free foreign transaction fees to make your trip easier.
You should also carry a small amount of cash. We spent $140 SGD in cash for bus passes as that subway station will not take credit card.
Tips and Tricks:
We recommend you buying your attraction tickets in before arrival. You will be able to secure lower prices through third party websites. You will need to redeem them at counter windows prior to admissions.
